A concert featuring some of the most profound taiko performers in Japan!

It’s been a year since WTC2020 was held online, but we are not done yet!  Putting into perspective an in-person global taiko conference in the future, we will be hosting a concert this year called TAIKO CELEBRATION 2021, in one of the most popular areas for taiko in Japan.

This concert will feature some of the artists who took part in our TALK videos from WTC2020, sending a cheerful message to the world, as we keep the fire burning. This special concert will send our ki from Oita, Japan, resonating together with each and every one of you. 

​

A special ensemble of passionate and powerful female performers called HERbeat Japan,  will come together specially for this  concert.  HERbeat was a project introduced by Jennifer Weir’s PREMIUM TALK from WTC2020, that highlighted the project creation and performance that happened that year.   The cast includes Kodo’s Distinguished Member, Chieko Kojima, and GOCOO’s Kaoly Asano,  who were both panelists in the WTC2020 LIVE TALK series,  and other amazing artists from around Japan for this special occasion.

Shogo Yoshii and Taishi Yamabe , who were also part of the PREMIUM TALK and LIVE TALK series,

will be performing as Waraku Soden, to express their unique taiko musicality on stage. They will be accompanied by other taiko performers to perform in the Kyushu area of Japan for the first time ever as an ensemble.

​

Last but certainly not least, Tadashi Hasegawa represented the local taiko community of Oita Prefecture

and the Kyushu area of Japan for the LIVE TALK in WTC2020.  He will be performing with his group, Toyonokuni Yufuin Genryu Taiko.
